Terms of Use
1. The platform and these terms
eMafundi is a directory, customer-service marketplace and business workspace for independent service providers. These terms govern use of the website, installed web app and account tools. The responsible operator and contact details appear in the operator panel on this page. Read the Privacy Notice and the specific provider, directory, sponsorship and refund policies together with these terms. A policy update does not retrospectively change a quotation already accepted between a customer and a provider.
2. Eligibility and account security
You must be at least 18 to hold an account or contract for services through eMafundi. An organization representative must have authority to act for that organization. Give accurate information, keep passwords and recovery codes private, and report suspected account misuse through Contact. Do not share a personal login with an entire workshop: invite staff using scoped memberships. A person may be both a customer and a provider; changing workspace never grants access to another business’s records.
3. Customers use the platform free
eMafundi does not charge customers a search, booking, quotation-viewing, messaging, notification or service-history access fee. Customers remain responsible for the actual work, parts, inspection or travel charges they expressly agree with the provider. Optional provider software subscriptions and sponsored placements are separate purchases made by providers. A provider’s expired subscription does not remove a customer’s access to their existing work records.
4. Requests, quotations and service contracts
A request is an enquiry, not acceptance of a final price. Before approving work, confirm the provider identity, specific service centre, scope, materials, total price, payment schedule, inspection/travel fees, timetable and warranty. A quotation remains subject to its validity period and written terms. Approved changes require a new quotation or recorded agreement; silence is not approval of extra work. The service contract is normally between the customer and independent provider, not eMafundi. Do not treat an automatic message or AI suggestion as a provider’s binding acceptance.
5. Listings, verification and safety
A listing is not a guarantee of licensing, insurance, competence, availability or satisfactory work. Unclaimed means that control of the listing has not been verified with the business. A verification badge describes only the particular check and date shown. Sponsored placement is advertising, not a safety endorsement. Check any licences required for hazardous or regulated work and agree site-access precautions. eMafundi is not an emergency-dispatch service; contact appropriate emergency services for immediate danger.
6. Payments and records
Pay only the person or business named in your agreement, using a verified channel. eMafundi does not hold a customer deposit in escrow unless a separately identified, authorized payment service expressly provides that arrangement. A provider-entered payment is a record supplied by the provider, not independent bank confirmation. Quotes, ordinary statements and work reports are not TRA fiscal receipts unless expressly issued through an authorized fiscal integration. Report suspicious payment requests and never disclose a mobile-money PIN or one-time banking code.
7. Your content and other people’s information
You retain rights in content you legitimately own. You grant the operator the limited permission needed to store, format and display it for your chosen platform use. Do not upload another person’s ID, private contact details, home location, image or confidential document without a lawful reason and appropriate notice/permission. Publishing a portfolio is distinct from keeping a private job attachment. Do not copy third-party listings, photographs or reviews merely because they can be seen online.
8. Moderation, restrictions and review
We may review accounts, listings, profile changes, messages and reports for fraud, unsafe services, abuse and policy compliance. Automated checks can assist, but a significant adverse decision may be challenged and requested for human reconsideration. Access may be restricted urgently to protect users or investigate misuse; reasons and a support route will be provided where lawful and practical. Staff must not approve their own disputed claim or use support access for unrelated purposes.
9. Availability, suspension and closure
We aim to keep the service useful but cannot promise uninterrupted connectivity, exact message delivery times or a provider’s availability. Save critical agreements and use account exports for records you need to retain. You may stop using the service, cancel optional renewals or request account closure through Contact. Closure is not automatic deletion of another business’s legally retained transaction records. Access to an account can end for serious or repeated misuse, subject to applicable rights and a review route.
10. Responsibility and disputes
Each party remains responsible for its own conduct and obligations. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or statutory consumer/privacy remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including responsibility for fraud or deliberate misconduct. First raise a service problem with the provider and preserve the quotation, payment references and relevant evidence; contact eMafundi for platform assistance. Platform assistance is not a court determination or a guarantee of refund. Applicable Tanzanian law and any mandatory rules relevant to the transaction, including relevant Zanzibar rules, apply. You retain the right to approach competent regulators and courts.
11. Changes and contact
Material changes will be identified by a new version/date and communicated through appropriate account notices. Optional marketing cannot be made compulsory by a policy update. Existing paid commitments and mandatory rights continue to apply. For questions, corrections, complaints or an accessible copy of these terms use Contact or your signed-in support ticket. The operator must complete and review its legal identity and contact panel before enabling paid transactions.
